Form 1040

The most common of tax forms, nearly all Americans will file a 1040 tax form. There are a few varieties of the 1040, including the 1040A, 1040EZ and the 1040X. Which one you use usually depends on the income that you made and what tax form you have been provided with by your employer, so do not fill out the 1040 until you know exactly which variation of this form that you need.

Form 1098

Student loans, mortgage interest rates and tuition payments are all to be filed on the form 1098. 1098 is the federal tax form for deductions from what you would otherwise end up paying in taxes, so if you have any of the payments just mentioned, make sure to grab this form and look through it thoroughly before filing your taxes.

Form 1099

If money that you made doesn’t seem to fit on the 1040 federal tax forms, you more than likely should be using a 1099. Independent contractors and lottery winners are the most common examples of individuals who have to fill out a 1099. This should also be used when you withdraw money from a retirement account or a 401k, or when you make money off the sale of a home.

Beauty Generates Higher Revenue, Ugliness Generates Penalty - Research

An economics professor at University of Texas-Austin has published a book which says that beauty brings many real life benefits to people. For about 20 years Daniel S Hamermesh, the author of the book "Beauty Pays", has studied the economics of beauty. The economics professor says that attractive people generally enjoy much more advantages than their bad-looking counterparts. Using his research, he has collected the notes that says beautiful people are far more likely to be satisfied with their lives, earn more money and get a bank loan with much more ease and marry a highly educated and a good-looking spouse.

Beauty is hard to define. But, as Hamermesh said, a symmetrical face is generally considered beautiful. The expressions and the overall gestalt are also important. In the book Hamermesh said that better-looking people are also more productive than the average ones which lead to higher sales and also higher profits. The book has also given a description of how beauty generates higher revenue and ugliness generates penalty. Hamermesh wrote that good-looking people earned as much as $US 230,000 more in their lifetime than the others with average looks. These figures are however based on an estimate of $US 20 an hour of the year 2010 salaries.

The earning disparity becomes even greater when gender is taken into account. Good-looking women earn up to four percent more while the handsome men earn up to three percent more.

 

In the 90's when Hamermesh's early research circulated, comedian Jay Lenko joked that if it was true then why did the Dallas businessman Ross Perot earn more than the actor Rob Lowe. To this the veteran economist replied, "Look, we don't talk about individuals; we talk about the average good-looking person and the average bad-looking person. There are always outliers."

Sony Network Split Wide Open To Hackers

The ease by which the hackers have been targeting the Sony networks shows the company needs to buck up big time to secure the company networks. Sony has been working along with three other security companies to secure its networks and websites since mid-April and to restore data that was compromised by two breaches, a site which has more than 100 million members of Sony's Playstation Network and the Online Entertainment Network of the Sony.

About ten days ago, it was announced that Sony had fixed all its problems with the PSN network and the SOE network and had restored services partially. Since then three separate and minor attacks were reported against the Sony systems. The ease with which the hackers are pulling off the security arrangements in the recent attacks are really alarming. It means that the Sony corporation needs to pay even more attention to the security of its websites.

Chester Wisiniewski, the senior security advisor of the security firm said,"The original attacks [on the PlayStation Network and Online Entertainment networks] were probably quite targeted and quite skilled". He also said that now it seemed that each and every hacker out there has jumped into the bandwagon of attacking the Sony websites.

It is being told that the company's hard-line stance in Intellectual Property and copyright protection has earned it many enemies in the hacker community. And it also seems the company forgot to pay any attention to its massive presence on the internet.

Google Panda Slaps Tight On UK Tech Sites, Revolutionizing The Playing Turf

SEO is an inexact science and in recent times, owing to mushrooming web-pages, and exponential growth in Internet technology, search engines have been facing lots of problem in indexing pages. In fact, the ground reality is, search engine has become increasingly irritating because of unwarranted websites top the chart. Just type “SEO” on Google, and it will present you 576 million results, and ironically most of them do not have specific information on it.

Search engine optimization is a big business and frequently Google (who has the monopoly over Internet domain) when alter its ranking algorithms – which they do often – most websites catch sneeze under the diseased term called “metrics”.

The latest algorithm metrics nicknamed the “Panda Updates” has passed a shock wave much into the crowd of SEO marketers. This results a drastic change in their websites ranking and of course profit.

How often Google algorithm play its part?

You can expect future sweeping and effect could be drastic because Google more often change in its algorithm several times a year. Most of the times changes are subtle and affect on websites are long term rather short term jerks.

Basically backlinks are the strongest way to promote your sites. These are a sort of “vote of confidence” and search engine looks for how many actually vote for you.

The recent Panda Update dismisses those sites, which are made by tools such as autoblogging or for the sole purpose of using AdSense. A site with overflowing ads actually ranks low and gets a severe slap by the Panda.

To Make Panda Happy

• Do not link to low quality sites. It’s better not to be linked with poor quality site than get a backlink from a low ranked site. Google considers it as a matter of negative relationship.

• Focus backlinks from high quality sites of your niche. Directory and article submission are also worthy but of high quality.

• Its better to focus primarily on content because in recent algorithm it has been experimented that a good quality, genuine content will rise to the ladder easily rather than high quantity though scrapped from other sites. Also, attach a blog to your site; blogs are the best way to keep your site fresh. Moreover, Google gives special attention to blogs. 

• Best to build your brand and to know and to be known is Social Media. It is the best way to share your value.

Based on the research it is found that the Google algorithm is accurate at pinpointing sites quality. Therefore, if you have the conviction your site is of high quality, it will surely be impacted with the Panda.

When Panda will not be impressed with you?

1. Duplicate content is the worst enemy of Panda. This can be applied to a page, a site or in worst cases both. Even poorly rewritten content is also an irritation for Panda.

2. A high percentage of pages with low quality and duplicate content.

3. Inappropriate adverts can also put your site on the low pedestal.

4. Black or grey hat SEO technique such as a page is optimized with different keywords and not matched between page content and search queries.

5. Unwarranted use of heavy-duty keywords during on-page SEO.

6. High bounce rate.

7. Minimum time stay.

8. High percentage of boilerplate content.

9. Low or no quality inbound links.

10. No mention or links from social media or other high rated sites.
