SEO is an inexact science and in recent times, owing to mushrooming web-pages, and exponential growth in Internet technology, search engines have been facing lots of problem in indexing pages. In fact, the ground reality is, search engine has become increasingly irritating because of unwarranted websites top the chart. Just type “SEO” on Google, and it will present you 576 million results, and ironically most of them do not have specific information on it.
Search engine optimization is a big business and frequently Google (who has the monopoly over Internet domain) when alter its ranking algorithms – which they do often – most websites catch sneeze under the diseased term called “metrics”.
The latest algorithm metrics nicknamed the “Panda Updates” has passed a shock wave much into the crowd of SEO marketers. This results a drastic change in their websites ranking and of course profit.
Many prominent UK tech sites have suffered from this recent “Google dance”, dropping their rankings drastically, demoting the sites because of unscrupulous means of writing contents and other several factors. The update has also affected on the European Commission, Microsoft-owned Ciao, which will virtually vanish from search results because of downgrading.
On the other hand, many sites such as Google’s own YouTube as well as other tech sites such as Techcrunch and Mashable and newspaper websites such Mirror and The Independent gets benefited with the Panda Update.
How often Google algorithm play its part?
You can expect future sweeping and effect could be drastic because Google more often change in its algorithm several times a year. Most of the times changes are subtle and affect on websites are long term rather short term jerks.
Basically backlinks are the strongest way to promote your sites. These are a sort of “vote of confidence” and search engine looks for how many actually vote for you.
The recent Panda Update dismisses those sites, which are made by tools such as autoblogging or for the sole purpose of using AdSense. A site with overflowing ads actually ranks low and gets a severe slap by the Panda.
To Make Panda Happy
- Do not link to low quality sites. It’s better not to be linked with poor quality site than get a backlink from a low ranked site. Google considers it as a matter of negative relationship.
- Focus backlinks from high quality sites of your niche. Directory and article submission are also worthy but of high quality.
- Its better to focus primarily on content because in recent algorithm it has been experimented that a good quality, genuine content will rise to the ladder easily rather than high quantity though scrapped from other sites. Also, attach a blog to your site; blogs are the best way to keep your site fresh. Moreover, Google gives special attention to blogs.
- Best to build your brand and to know and to be known is Social Media. It is the best way to share your value.
Based on the research it is found that the Google algorithm is accurate at pinpointing sites quality. Therefore, if you have the conviction your site is of high quality, it will surely be impacted with the Panda.
When Panda will not be impressed with you?
- Duplicate content is the worst enemy of Panda. This can be applied to a page, a site or in worst cases both. Even poorly rewritten content is also an irritation for Panda.
- A high percentage of pages with low quality and duplicate content.
- Inappropriate adverts can also put your site on the low pedestal.
- Black or grey hat SEO technique such as a page is optimized with different keywords and not matched between page content and search queries.
- Unwarranted use of heavy-duty keywords during on-page SEO.
- High bounce rate.
- Minimum time stay.
- High percentage of boilerplate content.
- Low or no quality inbound links.
- No mention or links from social media or other high rated sites.
