Darkest Night Of My Life: Baba Ramdev, After Midnight Detention

INDIA NEWS - The yoga guru of modern India, Swami Ramdev Baba, was detained in New Delhi for security reasons. The saint who went into a hunger strike for ending the widespread corruption in India, was forced to move out of the venue of his protest meeting Sunday in the Indian capital.

Ramdev was detained for security reasons but was later released, said the New Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat. Baba Ramdev then flew to his spiritual headquarters in Dehradunm Northern India.


The spiritual guru, along with tens of thousands of his followers, went on a hunger strike across India and several other cities and towns in Europe and America to bring an end to the corruption in India.

The police clash came after a agreement had been reached on the issue of corruption by both the Goverment and the Sadhu. The spokesman for the New Delhi Police said they had given permisson to Ramdev to hold a peaceful meeting with only 5000 followers. However, defying the police, 40,000 people came for the meeting. The police could not provide protection for the 40,000 people gathered at the venue in Ramlila ground.


The police forces used tear gas and canes to disperse off the crowd after sealing off the venue. More than forty bpeople were injured on the clash according to the press sources. However the police sources denied any knowledge of people getting injured.

As the police went to the dias to take away the yoga guru, he jumped among his followers but the police officials soon overpowered him.

The UPA Goverment, led by Manmohan Singh, has been severly criticised for these actions.

CNN-IBN projects Congress to emerge as single largest party

15th LOK SABHA ELECTION RESULT NEWS (India): Ahead of the 15th Lok Sabha election result, CNN-IBN has come up with a projection. According to the channel, UPA is suppose to get 210 to 225 seats that is way ahead of NDA.

This projection of the election result is based on a national election study by CNN-IBN in association with a daily newspaper Danik Bhaskar.

The result study also says that DMK and its allies are set to "sweep" Tamil Nadu getting 47% of the vote share against AIDMK's 34%.

Couple of days before a similar study was made by CNN-IBN. In the study it projected UPA to get 185-205 seats and the BJP-led NDA to get 165 to 185 seats. The study gives a projection of 110 to 130 seats to the Third Front and the Fourth Front some where between 25 and 35 seats. Others likely to get 20 to 30 seats.

In the final projections of the election result, Congress is expected to emerge as the single largest party getting some where around 158 to 173 seats against BJP, whose tally is put at 132 to 147 seats.

India ‘fit’ PM says Varun Gandhi’s remarks unfortunate

INDIAN ELECTION NEWS: On the issue of Varun Gandhi’s communal speech, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh breaks his silence over the fresh effort of communalising politics in India on Thursday condemning the remarks that allegedly sought to target the minority community.

Manmohan Singh talking to media at the Defence Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan said, “It is unfortunate if Varun Gandhi had made these comments.”

Varun Gandhi is a BJP candidate from Pilibhit and is in a midst of a raging controversy over his alleged hate speech against minority.

In his brief to the press Manmohan Singh also sought to dismiss any apprehensions regarding his health. He said that he was fit to campaign for the party in the General Election.

Manmohan Singh is recovering after a cardiac surgery on January 24.

He further said: “The third front is our rival. It should not be underestimated. “The UPA (United Progressive Alliance) will win and I am confident that people will vote for UPA.
