Below are the top 10 countries in the world where high gas prices are the norm. The data has been revealed by British insurance firm Staveley Head. The government there anticipates an eventual decline in oil and gas production, and saves state petroleum revenues in the world’s second largest sovereign wealth fund, which was valued at over $500 billion in 2011.

Norway - $10.12 per gallon

Norway is world's 7th largest oil exporter and enjoy strong economy. About 20 percent of the country's revenue comes from petroleum sector.

Turkey - $9.99 per gallon

Turkey will take mandatory steps against Syria: Turkish Prez.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Saturday his country would take all the necessary steps against Syria for the downing of its military jets. However, it was not clear whether the President was talking about military retaliation or other possible steps.

According to the Anatolia news agency, Mr Gul said it is not possible to keep a cover over such things.

Syria on the other hand said on Friday that a Turkish military jet entered its airspace and so was shot down.

Mr Gul mentioned the exact route of the jet is not yet confirmed and the jets flying at high speeds was ruinous and may have briefly crossed into the airspace of another country, but it was not intended as a hostile act.

China

In year 1978 the economic liberalization started. Since then the investment- and export-led economy of China grown 90 times bigger. The country is the 11th largest economy in the world by nominal value with abundance of natural gas, coal, oil and precious metals.

Brazil

In 2011 Brazil is suppose to become the sixth largest economy in the world. The recent global financial crisis is affecting its main economic powers, said International Monetary Fund.

Brazil is moderately a free market country with inward-oriented economy. Its average annual GDP growth rate is over 5%. In Latin America its economy is the largest.

Turkey

The economy of Turkey is mostly driven by the industry and service sectors. Privatization program in the country has reduced the involvement of state in basic industry, transport, banking and communication. Its has 17th largest nominal GDP in the world and 15th largest GDP-PPP.

Turkey Live: 1000 Feared Dead In Earthquake

TURKEY EARTHQUAKE NEWS - A 7.2 magnitude earthquake had hit yesterday in eastern Turkey near the Iranian border in the province of Van at 1:41 p.m. local time. There were at least 200 aftershocks after the quake, said the website of Kandilli observatory and Earthquake Research Institute.

It is learned the tremor was 3 miles below the surface. According to officials, about 1000 people is feared to be dead. Government officials said about 4000 homes may have been damaged due to the strong earthquake, biggest in the province since 1976 that killed 3,840 people. Most severe earthquake was seen in Turkey in 1999 which killed at least 17,000 people.

Turkey Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a state television address, "Just as we re-established other regions hit by earthquakes, so will we get this place back on its feet... We are not going to leave people to their own devices in the winter cold."

Before his address Erdogan visited the earthquake hit area to oversee the rescue efforts.

National disaster body based in the prime minister's office briefed in a statement, "There is serious human and material loss."

Electricity is cut throughout the province. Lanterns are being used by people to rescue victims.

In a television footage one man shouted, "My wife and child are inside! My 4-month-old baby is inside!"

Mayor of Celebibag, Veysel Keser told NTV, "Many buildings have collapsed, student dormitories, hotels and gas stations have collapsed."

Telecommunication services have been collapsed and people are in panic by not being reached to anybody.

The initial measurement was 7.3 magnitude by US Geological Survey. Later it downgraded it to 7.2 magnitude.
