Indian home minister Shushilkumar Shinde says two killed terrorists in Srinagar, Kashmir on Wednesday seemed have been from Pakistan as items recovered appeared from the neighboring country origin.

Suicide attackers launched terror attack in Srinagar on Wednesday in which 5 CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) personnel were killed. It is learned the two terrorists may have entered inside the police public school compound through a small gap in the fencing in Bemina area and then opened fire. Four civilians too were injured in the attack.

From the terrorists two AK rifles, two pistols, five magazines, four grenades and other weapon accessories have been recovered. Shinde said the ointment tube recovered is learned to have been manufactured in Karachi, Pakistan and dairies containing phone numbers have also been recovered.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has strongly rejected the allegation of their involvement in the attack.

Following the attack and death of CRPF personnel a curfew has been imposed after midnight in Srinagar district.

In the Zoonimar area group of stone pelters attacked CRPF yesterday, which was counter attacked by opening fire that killed 22-year-old youth.

Sources said only one CRPF out of 5 killed had weapons and among the 15 injured only 5 were equipped heavily during the militant attack. It is also learned intelligence input was with the authorities about a possible attack on the camps following the hanging of Afzal Guru on February 9 in an Indian jail. However, CRPF said there were no specific alert about Srinagar and it is difficult to preempt any suicide attack as such fidayeens did not enter the area overnight.

CRPF has cleared the doubt saying only one-third of the 25,000 personnel are deployed with weapons in Srinagar.

IG CRPF VS Yadav said, "We have a standard operating procedure and that was followed. One-third of the jawans of the concerned (CRPF) company were armed, one third was carrying the riot gear and one-third had lathis."

Following the attack the CRPF has postponed the plan of pulling out three battalions from the region. The personnel are wanted in the Naxal-affected areas on Andhra Pradesh-Chattisgarh border.

The 5 CRPF jawans martyred are laid to rest today. Other personnel, police officers, DGP of Jammu and Kashmir Police Ashok Prasad and Director General of CRPF Pranay Sahay paid floral tributes. Floral wreaths were laid on the coffins before the martyr were flown to their native places.

The killed personnel in the attack are Assistant Sub-Inspector A B Singh, and constables Satish Shah, Subhash, L Parmol and Om Prakash.
