Wrapped in the Indian Tricolour the dead Sarabjit Singh
received a hero's welcome which he missed seeing it alive. It is very sad to
note that the Indian government failed in its effort to convince Pakistan to
release Sarabjit. No matter what went behind the doors of power.
Thousands were present to bid final adieu to the deceased
Sarabjit, who languished in a Lahore jail for 22 years and was finally done
away with brutally by Pakistani inmates. A very planned way that executed his
demise.
It was a scene of people and people everywhere. Even not an
inch of space was spared to see the warrior in his town. The scenario was a
mega emotional one. The entire village of Bhikiwind thronged to the cremation
ground to be part of the final funeral rites.
When the funeral pyre was lit with fire by Dalbir Kaur,
sister of the deceased, a unanimous feeling of anguish and anger poured out
from those present there. The multitude chanted in unison- "Sabarjit Singh
Amar Rahe" (Long Live Sabarjit Singh).
It has become evident, that in the near future, the
relationship between Pakistan and India will drop to a huge on-time low.
