GALAXY TAB 10.1 BAN NEWS - Samsung tablet ban in Australia extended for another week by Australia's High Court despite an earlier ban lifted by a lower court and allowing it to be sold in the country and compete with iPad of Apple.

The extension of ban on Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet was made today in a patent tussles between the company and Apple, which dominates the US$100 billion market of smartphones and tablets.

On Wednesday, though pending full hearing whether the tablet copied iPad, Sydney's Federal Court lifted the ban temporarily allowing the sale of Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has not been sold a single unit in Australia after Apple won a stay of orders and further filed an application request to the Australian High Court to prolong the injunction claiming Galaxy Tab 10.1 infringes thirteen of its patents.

In October Apple won temporary injunction appeal on a finding that iPad had a prima facia case and Tab breached 2 patents in relation to the touchscreen technology.

Over tablets and smartphones the two companies are engaged in an ongoing battle in the US, South Korea and Japan. Recently, Apple won a ban over the Tab in Germany related to breaching of copyright.

The date of full hearing has not yet been set.
