QUEENSTOWN, Australia - The 38th annual Winter Festival has begun in Queenstown and revellers in thousands have started gathering. About 50,000 people are expected to attend this unique culture and community celebration of Queenstown that started way back in 1975 by locals.
Despite sluggish tourism currently in Queesntown, the organizers expects it to be a great success.
CEO of Destination Queenstown Mr Graham Budd says, "It has been challenging."
According to Festival Director Mr Simon Green, the Queenstown's Winter Festival has been designed for all members of the family. He added that there are in total of 69 events to take place in a span of ten days.
Mr Green also said, "Once again this is about fun. It's about celebrating who we are and where we are and sharing that with our visitors."
The Queenstown Winter Festival is scheduled to be held between June 22 and July 1, 2012.
