Alibaba, largest ecommerce company in China
CHINA NEWS – Alibaba, the world’s largest B2B online B2B marketplace is defamed when Chinese police have detained 36 people for fraud cases, operating through this biggest e-commerce site. The accused are said to hoodwinked overseas buyers of more than $6bn (£3.7bn) by posing as suppliers.

The reputation of the site gets tarnished, though Alibaba.com boss Jonathan Lu said the arrest would be a lesson for online frauds.

The company said the arrests were made after 40 days investigation earlier this year. The company has also assured it’s users that they will take appropriate measures to thwart this type of incident in future.

According to the company, the arrests have made a positive impact, as the fraud complaints received monthly by the website reduced by 70%. The company said it would take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of money of its users.

"We will continue to co-operate with defrauded buyers and police to pursue the investigation, arrest and sentencing of those who commit crimes using our platform," said Linda Kozlowski of Alibaba.com.

Further she warned scammers saying they couldn’t hide on the internet.
