SAUDI ARABIA NEWS – Prodded by the national and public emotional protests to assert a better solution and dispel the sense of peril, Saudi Arabian government has decided to temporarily ban all visa permits to two south East Asian countries Indonesia and Philippines for “better security” of their citizens.

In a statement labor ministry of Saudi Arabia said that it would stopped issuing visa permits for all workers belonged to Indonesia and the Philippines. Further, Riyadh said to implement new guidelines for these two South East Asian countries for a better protection of their people.

Earlier this month a household worker beheaded in Saudi Arabia, which created much furor among citizens, forced Jakarta to announce a moratorium on its national working in Saudi Arabia.

It is reported that more than two million Filipinos and Indonesians work in Saudi Arabia.

The new rules for these two Asian countries will come into effect from Saturday. Saudi labor ministry said.

In recent times, Riyadh tried to open new channels for domestic workers from other countries, as the country has a heavy requirement of domestic workers. The domestic works fetch good money, but report of abuse is ubiquitous.

The statement from labor ministry added: "The ministry's decision coincides with its great efforts to open new channels to bring domestic workers from other sources."

The Indonesian labor ministry said about 10,000 citizens had work permit to enter Saudi Arabia this month. The ministry kept mum on the report of ban, but expressed its apprehension about the effect of the ban.

Earlier this month an Indonesian domestic worked Ruyati Binti ruthlessly executed by a Saudi Arabian family incited protest. Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono also expressed his grief and resentment on this incident, called it against the “norms and manners” of international relations.
