Japan’s NTT To Snap Up Dimension Data For $3.2 Billion

Tokyo – Japan’s Telegraph and Telephone Corp (NTT is going to buy South African technology services provider Dimension Data Holdings Plc for worth 2.12 billion pounds (about $3.2 billion). It is contemplated that the buying would strengthen the Japanese presence in the world market, especially in the African telecom market.

“The offer price for each ordinary share in Dimension Data is expected to be 120 pence and the total acquisition price is expected to be approximately up to GBP 2,120 million,” the statement noted.

African telecom market is fast growing and many companies are ready to hook up in the lucrative deals. Recently, Indian giant Bharti Airtel bought Kuwait-based Zain Telecom’s operations in 15 African countries in a $10.7 billion deal.

Dimension Data is operating in 49 countries on six continents. It is founded in South Africa and headquartered in U.K. The shares of the company are listed in both London stock exchange and Johannesburg.

In India Datacraft is the subsidiary of the company. NTT Presiden and CEO Satoshi Miura said that the company’s new vision is to get success in coming age of cloud computing. According to NTT, the transaction will be done through existing cash resources and a loan from the Japanese Bank Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.
