Herpes virus treatment involves general-purpose antiviral drugs. The symptoms of its infection include mucous membranes of mouth, genitals, or lips, and also watery blisters in the skin. It can easily spread if infected person produces and sheds the virus.
Initially infected people can experience sporadic episodes of viral reactivation. This is because virus in a nerve cell becomes active and it gets transported to the skin through neuron's axon.
Herpes virus is also now considered as a potential therapy for cancer. It has cancer killing ability. Extensive clinical test suggests its efficacy against melanoma too.
Herpes virus is even used as a transneuronal tracer defining connections among neurons by virtue of traversing synapses.
To fight against the infection it is important to understand the Herpes Virus. It is classified into six clades and four occurs in East Africa and the other two is in East Asia and Europe/North America.
Several vaccines have been developed to fight against it. The first vaccine was established in 1920s and it is successful till date.
