74M US Consumers To Shop On Black Friday This Year - Survey

BLACK FRIDAY NEWS - The traditional holiday shopping season is just a week away and retailers in U.S. are expecting more consumers for Black Friday this year. One in every three person, or about 74 million consumers, are definitely planning of shopping during the three days after November 24th, the Thanksgiving Day, says a survey by BIGresearch conducted for the National Retail Federation (NRF). Last year 27 percent consumers was out for shopping.

To get the most out of the holiday sales, big retail chains such as Best Buy Co., Macy's Inc. and Target Corp. have announced for keeping the stores open on Thanksgiving. According to Washington-based NRF, the retailers will gain about half of the gain made last year, or a 2.8 percent sales increase.

To lure the shoppers trolling for bargains, the retail chains dangle doorbusters and other offers and specials on Black Friday.

The unemployment rate is still 9 percent in the U.S. and consumers are coping with it.

World's largest retailer, Wal-Mart Stores Inc., revealed of profit that trailed the estimates of analysts after holding down the prices.

The survey of NRF poll is based on views of 8,502 consumers between November 1st and November 8th.
