New York - New York Mets' closer Francisco Rodriguez was charged late Wednesday night in police custody at Citi Field, New York, with third-degree assault following a physical altercation with his father-in-law after the game against the Colorado Rockies the same day.
Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez is held at the ballpark and his father-in-law in a hospital with a bump on his head and scrape on face.
The fight was also leaked on Twitter.
Update #1: Francisco Rodriguez got into a fight with father-in-law. Well, we've all been there, sister.
Update #3: The Mets have issued a statement.
"There was an incident between Francisco Rodriguez and his family tonight at the ballpark. He was questioned by police and all other questions pertaining to this incident will be referred to the police department."
Update #4: Frankie might've been arrested.
According to authorities, Francisco Rodriguez, 28-year-old, assaulted his father-in-law after an argument went bad.
Lt. Mike Wysokowski said, "He was arrested at 10:15 after a domestic dispute in the family area with what appeared to be his father-in-law. The victim suffered facial abrasions and was taken to Flushing Hospital."
It is also learned that Rodriquez was upset after the Rockies losy by 6-2.
