CHINA NEWS - In a shocking revelation, a report says a group of mentally unbalanced people have been working as a slaves in Chinese Xinjiang factory. Chinese police are investigating reports, saying the workers are unpaid and working in a pathetic conditions.
It is reported that 11 workers were sold by a charitable organization to a factory in Xinjiang country's north-west.
In the recent case, the mentally disabled workers were working in a slave like condition where there are given no pay, no protective clothing and not bathed for years. Even they ate the same food as the factory's owner's dogs. If anyone wanted to escape, they were badly beaten just like any Hollywood B grade action movies.
The workers were working for a man who apparently ran a charitable organization. According the Global Times, the Quixan Beggars' Adoption Agency who sold the workers to a factory for 9,000 yuan (£850, $1,350) for each employee. Also it was a deal to be paid by the factory 300 yuan a month for each worker.
The man Zeng Lingquan who ran the fake agency, is now in hands of police.
The Qu county party committee and the local government have expressed deep regret about the incident and immediately ordered an investigation and rescue workers.
The factory boss Li Xinglin has flown and police issued a warrant against him.
This is not an exceptional case, which suddenly surfaced in Chinese terrority. Earlier also cases were reported where unpaid workers had been working without independent trade unions and treated as a slave.
In another incident three years ago, several people were unearthed from a clandestine factory in Shanxi Province where workers were treated like slaves.
The then police authority said they would take appropriate measures to stop this kind of incidence in future.
