Malaysian government has placed thirteen items under the price control scheme in X'mas celebrations, which includes imported turkey.
The items are chicken, imported mutton, local mutton, imported turkey, tomatoes, eggs and green capsicum.
Traders in 146 areas have been directed to display the prices of the items on pink price tags, and selling above the controlled price would be penalized under Price Control And Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
According to Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, the sellers who violates the controlled pricing could be fined up to RM100,000 or three years of jail. The two could also be compounded with a fine up to RM50,000. For companies the fine amount is up to RM500,000 or compounded up to RM250,000.
