INDIA - India says the Tibetan leader and world spiritual teacher Dalai Lama is an honored guest despite strong protest by Chinese. The Dalai Lama is going to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday. In a statement External Affairs Minister SM Krishna said that India was quite unequivocal and categorical about the Tibetan leader. He said the Dalai Lama was respected by Indians and an honored guest.
"We do not encourage anyone to get into political activities which will concern the relationship between the two countries," he said.
He further added that India was out of Tibetan community and the Tibetan Autonomous region was a part of China.
The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had met the Dalai Lama August 11 and it was the first meeting since the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) got elected over a year ago.
China has already shown their strong objection and conveyed message through diplomatic channels.
The Dalai Lama is a head of Tibetan government. He is an exile leader, living in the small town of Macleodganj, Himachal Pradesh. He exiled from his land and fled to India 1959 after China captured Tibet.
